Land Rover & Range Rover Center Caps — 62 mm, and the 63 mm Variant 1 mm Away
Most brand stories on this site are about gaps — 57 versus 68, 54 versus 63. Land Rover's story is the opposite, and in its way it's the more dangerous one: the published families sit one millimetre apart.
The main family: 62 mm
The mainstream Land Rover / Range Rover cap measures 62 mm OD with a 47.5 mm inner diameter, documented under the OEM RRJ000010 / RRJ500030 family. Note how far the clip-side measurement sits from the face diameter — 14.5 mm of difference means the back of this cap narrows substantially, and it's the 47.5 mm figure that has to agree with your wheel.
The variant: 63 mm
Alongside the 62 mm family, 63 mm variants are also listed, cross-referenced to part numbers LR001156 and LR044717. One millimetre. On a tape measure, invisible. On a wheel, decisive: our standing rule — sourced from the measurement guides this site is built on — is that a 1 mm miss produces a cap that rattles, sits crooked, or falls off. A 63 mm cap in a wheel that wants 62 isn't "basically right"; it's a lost cap on a payment plan.
How to tell which one your truck takes
Part number first: read the molding on the back of your existing cap and match it against the RRJ family versus the LR interchange numbers. Then measure — and measure in millimetres with a caliper, not a ruler, because the entire question lives inside a single millimetre and a ruler can't see it. If your cap is gone entirely, measure the wheel's center opening directly; the wheel-opening method exists for exactly this situation.
A word on interchange numbers
The 63 mm variant reaches the market through interchange references — LR001156 and LR044717 — and interchanges deserve a sentence of their own. An interchange number is one maker's claim that a part substitutes for another. It's a lead, not a measurement: supersessions happen for finish changes, supplier changes and genuine dimension changes alike, and a listing built on an interchange chain can drift a millimetre from the part in your hand without anyone lying. On most brands a millimetre of drift is an annoyance. On Land Rover, where the two documented families live exactly that far apart, an interchange has to be verified against the wheel every single time. Treat interchanges as a reason to measure, never as a substitute for it.
