"F-150 center cap" might be the most misleading search in the whole category. Across generations, Ford put completely different cap systems on the same truck name — different sizes, different retention, different everything. Two eras explain most of the confusion.

1997–2004: the 180 mm lug-cover cap

Tenth-generation F-150s (and same-era Expeditions) wear a huge 180 mm lug-cover cap, OEM part YL34-1A096. It doesn't snap into a small center hole — it spans and covers the lug nuts, held by the lugs or threaded plastic nuts. If your cap is the size of a dinner plate, this is your family. Nothing about it interchanges with later caps.

2012–2014: the 3-inch snap-in (CL3Z1130B)

On the 2012–2014 F-150 with the 20-inch alloy wheel, the cap is a conventional 3-inch snap-in, OEM CL3Z1130B. Small, clip-retained, and a totally different part from the lug-cover era — same badge on the tailgate, unrelated hardware in the wheel.

And the 87.1 mm you'll keep seeing

The 2004+ F-150 (and 2003+ Expedition) hub center bore is 87.1 mm, 6×135. That's the wheel-centering hole, not a cap size — quoting it to a parts counter as your cap diameter is the classic F-150 ordering mistake. (Ford cars are different again: Focus/Mondeo-era cars run a 63.4 mm bore.)
