Hub-Centric Rings vs Center Caps — Two Parts, One Hole, Endless Confusion

Two different parts get confused because they share an address. A hub-centric ring is a spacer ring that fills the gap between an aftermarket wheel's center bore and your vehicle's hub, so the wheel centers perfectly. A center cap is the disc that snaps into the wheel's face and covers the hole. Rings are structural; caps are covers. Ordering one when you need the other is a steady source of returns.

The numbers belong to different parts

Ring sizing uses hub bore figures — Mazda 3/6/CX-5 at 67.1 mm, Toyota Camry/RAV4 at 60.1 mm, Nissan Altima/Rogue at 66.1 mm, Hyundai Elantra/Tucson at 67.1 mm, Tesla Model 3/Y at 64.1 mm. Notice how close some of those sit to cap sizes for the same brands — Mazda's bore is 67.1 mm while its caps are a ~56 mm family — and you can see exactly how the confusion (and a whole species of wrong listings) is born.

Which do you need?

Keep them straight: rings are sized by the hub; caps are sized by the wheel's face. Our bore vs cap diameter guide covers the underlying mix-up.
